Hi Donald,

Hi all,
I have posted much of this to the orca-list so my appologies for the cross-posting.
My situation is that I am needing to run oracle enterprise linus 5.0.01 (a derrivative of rhel 5.0).
It coms with orca-1.0-2.fc6, and associated packages.
All was fine when I installed the o/s. However, I wanted to make a couple of small changes like adding braille support, and adding the ttsynth speech synthesizer.
So, I did the following:
Installed Pyrex-0.9.3.1 (from rpm package)
Installed (compiled from a tarball) brltty-3.8
Installed ttsynth (from rpm package).
Installed gnome-speech-0.4.16 (from tarball)
Installed: orca-2.20.3 (from tarball)
So far so good. All was working fine for a short time. Then the whole system locked up and after forcing a reboot, I had no ttsynth available in gnome-speech.
Now I decided to bring things up-to-date and install the latest orca to gain any benefits from recent developments.
Having been down this road before, I knew that I needed to install atk, gail and at-spi first. So I compiled them from tarballs all taken from March 10 of this year.
Now when I try to start orca, I get the following errors:
Bonobo accessibility support initialized
(gnome-session:4388): atk-bridge-WARNING **: AT_SPI_REGISTRY was not started at session startup.
(gnome-session:4388): atk-bridge-WARNING **: IOR not set.
(gnome-session:4388): atk-bridge-WARNING **: Could not locate registry
at-spi-registryd is not running on your system. Seems it is never
started. Have you set /desktop/gnome/interface/accessibility=ture in gconf?
