Sounds like the GTK_MODULES environment variable might not be set, which
is what is needed to enable accessibility in OOo. The GTK_MODULES value
should be "gail:atk-bridge". If it's there, you should also see the
following message in gnome-terminal when you run OOo:
GTK Accessibility Module initialized
