Hi.
As a general rule in Linux, the X server will use the next available virtual
console.  I haven't changed anything from the Debian defaults, so I have
6 text consoles.  This means my X server will start on virtual console 7.

If you have reconfigured your system to have more text consoles, then
the X server will be on the console number 1 greater than the number of
text consoles.
