I think that our proposal for ATK is basically a superset of the Java keybinding API.  
We will be exposing keybindings not just for selection, but activation, etc.  One reason 
that this is very useful is to help ATs keep from colliding with GTK+ and application 
keybindings.  It also means that certain types of AT can synthesize keystrokes for 
shortcuts, which is very useful for scripting and for voice command interfaces.
