Most of the distributions already package at-spi2 stuff, but for the
current stable versions, AFAIK, on most of them the default one is
still at-spi.

A lot of distributions are now planning the next stable release, and
deciding which one will be the default one. And I fear that in most
cases it will be still at-spi.

Anyway, to get more detailed information, I think that it would be
required to dig the specific distribution mailing lists.

Well, I'm not Mike ;), but in my development environment I use at-spi2
and orca, although I don't use it as a user. Recently Mike and
Joanmarie updated this page [1] with the status of at-spi2 and
orca. You can take a look while you wait for Mike answer.
