Hi,
Click on an existing menu and then select the "edit" action from the Glade
context menu (or the Edit action from the toolbar) to access the hierarchical
menu editor.
Also, it wont hurt to upgrade to Glade 3.8...
Cheers,
-Tristan

I use glade 3:

I cannot figure out how to add a submenu to a menu item. ?I can create a
new menu by selecting the "popup menu" tool from the palette, but it is
always created on the top level of the project, not as a child of the
item even if I select the item first. ?(The same happens when I try to
copy an existing top-level menu and paste it into the item.) ?Indeed,
had glade not helpfully pre-created the usual menus for me when I
created the menu bar widget, I would not have a way of creating
top-level menus, either.
And there seems to be no menu item tool in the palette, so again, the
only way of creating new items is to copy an existing item and paste it
into the menu where I want the new one to live (but at least that works).
