First, a roughtly technical issue: SHA is not sufficient on desktop,
as you also need a directory where repo is stored.
In a less technical point of view, I'm not sure to understand the
complete use case.
gitg already has a DnD support, more classical: dragging a file's name
does an export of the related file's content.
Hope that helps to construct the idea.
