[Gimp-user] Foreground Selection Problems

Hi,
I have difficulties to select the foreground of an image.
First, I've tried Gimp's foreground selection tool.
Unless I miss something this is extremely slow on my brand new AMD Threadrippper
CPU with lots of memory.

Then I've tried GMIC's foreground selection tool. This works fine.
I've opted for the output of 2 layers - a mask and the original image.
How can I convert the black'n white layer to a selection for the image (second
layer)
