[Gimp-user] Gimp installs fine but fails to start

As the title says. I'm on Windows 10 x64. Using the latest installer for 2.8.18.
Installation goes smoothly, however when I boot the program it sparks a "has
stopped working" message at the "updating tag cache" point. Tried previous
version 2.8.16, same thing. Tried installing just the 'compact' installation but
no juice.
