[Gimp-user] live data in layer

Hi gimp-users,

I would like to know if it is possible/easy to get live data (from a
webcam) into a layer,
and use that as a transparent overlay to draw into a different layer,
kind of like a software-"camera luminosa"
are there any plug-ins that would allow this feature?
