Out of curiosity: if we had that attitude, what was the point of
working with a user experience architect from 2006 to 2013, actually
conducting interviews with end-user and adding/rewriting features
based on those interviews? :)
Try finding a few actual high end users who understand ICC profile color
management and the requirements for proper RGB image editing, and *ask* them
what they need. Talk to Krita users and Darktable users. Even try to find a
few Adobe Cloud refugees and talk to them - there is certainly enough
interest in high bit depth GIMP being expressed in the various photography
forums.
With Peter's departure, someone would have to take over the role of
UI/UX guy to do interviews properly and write specs.
