Use the text tool to add your name; the copyright symbol is no longer needed but you can paste it from 
Character Map if you want. Do include your name and the date.

The text tool will make a new layer, which you can move and/or rotate if you like.

Some good work there! You could also draw the copyright symbol in a new layor (so you can move it or change 
it later). Save your image (as foo.xcf.gz) to keep the layer separate and then export the final image as jpeg 
(or whatever).
