What you've received is called Spam (or more precisely, Unsolicited Commercial E-Mail, UCE). It was also not 
sent to you directly, but to the list address.

There's unfortunately no efficient way to restrict subscriptions to the list to certified non-spammers, so 
we'll have to deal with the occasional spamming attempt when they happen.
