[Gimp-user] printable grid?

Sorry if this is an old question.  I'm new to this.

I'm trying to use Gimp to add a visible grid to a printed picture, so that I can use it as a guide when painting a copy of the pic.  I haven't been able to figure out how from the documentation.  There is a grid, and it shows on screen, but not when I print.
