Hi Development Team,

I will be installing the application on some of our machines and would like to know more about the
application. If possible, could you please answer the following:

1.Does the software require admin rights? If yes please instruct reasons for admin rights

You can install it without admin rights, if my memory serves me well.

2.Can we have source files of the software (Installation files )

https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/

3. Is there any instructions or documentation how to support his application ?

There is an online user manual. There are tons of videos on YouTube.
There are paid-for courses on various platforms such as Udemy. Please
elaborate.

4.Does it require any special ports towards network config behind firewalls?

GIMP does three things with network (that I recall):

1. It can access any remote file storage that you configured in your
system, like a corporate network file server.
2. If the user manual isn't installed locally, GIMP will prompt the
user to open the online version from within its own user interface.
3. Every time (not sure about every time though) GIMP starts, it
queries gimp.org for the number of the latest version available, and
if there's a new release, it will tell you so. You can disable this
feature in preferences on per-user basis.

So I'm guessing you need to have 443 port open for HTTPS requests.

5.Does the software use any authentication ?

None whatsoever.

Alex
