[Gimp-developer] Brush palette not available in windows XP s3

Hi, I was using Gimp with Ubuntu and got on well with it at a 
basic/intermediate level due to computer failure I'm back to XP on 
another machine. Downloaded Gimp 2.8 and the brush size, shape, speed 
options are not available. tried your FAQ's, Tutorials and all other 
options I can find but no answers. I'm a grey surfer so no complex 
technical replies please, very simple, download, paste, click here stuff 
if you can would be very appreciated.
