[Gimp-developer] show/hide menu mnemonics option is gone ?

In 2.6 there was a preference setting with this string

msgid "Show menu _mnemonics (access keys)"

I assume this was for show or display the keyboard accelerators in
menus.
Is this option no longer availabe in 2.8 ?
(is there any other method to hide the accelerators ?)
