I have tried the patha version and the size problem is fixed. Maybe it's just the gtk version in which gimp is compiled against ?

but Partha compilation ( with 2.8.1 which is not an official number
probably ) solve that problem
and sometime users just need something to work..

I've tested the executable under WIndows 7 and I can confirm that the
problem described by the Guiu is gone.
