[gexiv2] Install problems linux mint 18

I've tried to install gexiv2 several different ways on Linux Mint 18, both using the a tarball and the git repository with different checkouts (10.3, 10.4, master), but I can't get it to work.

It looks like there is a problem with the linker.

Does anyone know what is wrong?
