[gexiv2] Make fails while building from git repo

I did a git pull so I have the latest changes as of today.

I ran:

./autogen.sh

./configure --enable-introspection

make

and got

rm -f gexiv2_vapi.stamp

  GEN      gexiv2_vapi.stamp

/bin/bash: line 1: --metadatadir=./vapi: No such file or directory

Makefile:1291: recipe for target 'gexiv2_vapi.stamp' failed

make: *** [gexiv2_vapi.stamp] Error 127
