It's cool that you like gedit, thanks for the respect :) For your problem, there is already an existing solution. You can use the Session Saver plugin which is provided by the gedit-plugins package that you can install on your system.

I know I probably won't get a response for this, but I may as well give it a shot.
I've been using GEDIT for years now, it is literally the best notepad alternative out there, I have nothing but respect for the developers. I work in a statistical field and have to have a good 30+ text files open in tabs in GEDIT, the text files are usually in different folders as well and they are not always the same. This really isn't a big deal to me, but a feature that would allow me to save all the text files I currently have open and then reopen them all at the same time would be amazing. As in, let's suppose I open up GEDIT then just hit "open last documents viewed" or something along those lines.
