[gedit-list] In file open dialog, sort-by-name sorts by the number of characters in file name

I have gedit 3.2.6 running on OSX. When I go to the open file dialog and try to sort the files by name gedit sorts them by the number of characters in the file name instead. What could be causing this and does anyone else have the same issue?
