[gedit-list] Native Mac OS X gedit -- ALT key non functional

Hello all,

I am using the Mac OS X version of Gedit on an iMac with usual input
peripherals running Leopard (10.5) (French keymap). It proves to be
impossible to insert a significant number of special characters, such
as { } [ ] , which is a real problem when it comes to programming.

Does a solution to this problem exist?
