[gedit-list] Saving the current file from an external tool

Hello,

I found a way to save the current file from an external tool. 
It is a bit tricky but it seems to work.

The idea is to simulate keyboard touches. 

1) Install the package xdotool.
2) Add this line in the external tool : xdotool key "ctrl+s"

Is there a better way ?
