I think a possible solution for that would be a plugin that listens the saved
signal of GeditDocument and make a copy to the directory you want and
with the name you want.

Hello everyone,
I just joined the list. I'm not a hard core c or c++ programmer, but I
do know some. I use gedit a lot and with a the terminal plugin, it is
almost the ultimate editor.
I'm looking for a way that gedit can save its backups as a revision
history instead of just ~. Currently I've modified my gnome session to
run a bash script which performs the following:
gconftool-2 --set
--type=string /apps/gedit-2/preferences/editor/save/backup_copy_extension .`date "+%Y%m%d"`~
This gives me a daily revision history though, not a per-save history.
I've checked at http://live.gnome.org/Gedit/Plugins for a plugin for
what I'm looking for, but did not find one.
If anyone has a plugin for this or knows of a way to achieve my
objective that would be awesome.
Looking forward to contributing and working with everyone!
Brandon
