Re: [gedit-list] Suggestion for gedit - file opening.

Would someone please clarify this. With Gedit gedit 2.22.3 I find there are two actions:

1) A second file opened from the gedit internal browser appears in a new tab.
2) A second file opened from Nautilus appears in a new instance of Gedit.

Is this the expected behaviour?

Now that this topic has been raised, I seem to remember that there was a time when a second file always appeared in a new tab.

Andrew.

This is actually already exactly what gedit does, it's a single instance
application which tries to open files in active windows on the current
viewport/workspace if possible. If this is not working in your case,
then either you found a bug somewhere, or maybe you have an old version
of gedit.
