This is a closed bug (http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=348670)
and should be fixed in gedit >= 2.15.6.

Well, I'm not sure, but I think you also need to remove the schemas file
(/usr/share/gconf/schemas/gedit-file-browser.schemas) since that
determines the type of the gconf value.
