In general if you can choose a font size you also need to be able to
choose line spacing. Fonts are not designed to be used without any
extra inter-linear spacing, and doing so degrades readability,
lowers comprehension and adds eye strain.
I don't know if the best answer is to add line spacing to the font
chooser, or to the gedit dlog.
A good default is to use 1.2 times the nominal font size (e.g. this
gives 10 on 12pt).
