Are you sure I said that? ;-) I don't remember what I was thinking.

Anyway: to use the new widget you'll have to go ahead and port to GTK
1.3.2 I would expect. It isn't possible to backport the widget to
1.2. If you're using GTK 1.3.2 I don't see a reason to cut-and-paste
the widget.
