Re: [Geary] Allowing all images

Hi Liam,

Not at the moment, but there's a request for it and some discussion about this over on Bug 714554 <https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=714554>. In summary, it's a not a good idea because it helps spammers, malware, companies and governments track you and verify your email address, which is why Geary does not currently allow loading images by default.

However I recognise that some people do find it annoying, so perhaps Geary could be a bit more smart about which senders it allows by default. As I mention in that bug, we could allow remote image loading automatically from senders found in your desktop contacts. Thinking it over a bit more now, we could also allow remote image loading by default for contacts you have both sent and received email from before. Maybe there's some other improvements there as as well.

Is there a particular use case you have that makes allowing remote images by default worthwhile?

Hi Geary,

Is it possible for me to allow all remote images and not need to add them to allows allow list?

Thanks,
Liam
