Perhaps it cannot find the icon?!?
What's the output of below command?

$ sudo find / -name detach-symbolic*
/home/fede/src/geary/icons/detach-symbolic.svg
/usr/local/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/actions/detach-symbolic.svg
