I am getting (the usual/normal) message: "The identity of the IMAP mail server at mail.server.net:993 could not be verified" (server uses a self-signed cert.) However, when I click either of the options: a) Always trust this server or b) Trust this server; I get the following: "unable to store server trust exception; couldn't find a place to store the pinned certificate." Is this a permissions problem? Where would Geary usually store these exceptions? (I am using gnome-keyring, if that is relevant but only for Geary.) Thanks. ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Tue, 30 Sep 2014 13:51:01 -0700 From: Jim Nelson <jim yorba org> To: stef204 <stef204 yandex com> Cc: geary-list gnome org Subject: Re: [Geary] Trusting Server issues Message-ID: <1412110261 29208 2 smtp gmail com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="utf-8"; Format="flowed" It sounds like you're having a similar issue as reported at https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=736640 Unfortunately, I don't know at this point what the root issue is. Geary uses gcr-3 to pin certificates (store them as trusted). The error you're reporting is coming from gcr-3. It probably indicates an issue with the backing. When you say you're using geary-keyring but only for Geary, how did you install it? What distro are you using? -- Jim On Tue, Sep 30, 2014 at 9:56 AM, stef204 <stef204 yandex com> wrote:

I'm using Arch Linux, and the behaviour is the same whether I use the repository version (0.8) or compile from git head. I get my usual popup from gnome-keyring, but after this the geary main window isn't shown. geary --debug gives this output: (geary:5036): Gtk-WARNING **: Theme parsing error: gtk-widgets.css:2:16: Theming engine 'adwaita' not found [msg] 11:31:21 0.042565 geary-application.vala:174: Geary 0.8.0 prefix=/usr exec_dir=/usr/bin is_installed=true (geary:5036): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: The property GtkWidget:margin-left is deprecated and shouldn't be used anymore. The process does not terminate, but no window is shown. I don't seem to have any issues with any other modern gtk apps e.g. evince (which also complains about missing adwaita) . Putting ~/.local/share/geary aside means I see the "create new account" dialog, but after setting one up I end up back in this situation again. Any advice about how to debug this would be great!
