Re: [gdm-list] different autologin on each server?

Matt:

This is a known issue in GDM 2.20 and earlier. There is a patch
available that you can use to make GDM support autologin on multiple
displays. Note Comment #33 for the patch.

http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=336174

Aside from building GDM yourself with this patch, I don't think
you can get it to work. If somebody wanted to finish up the
patch to address the issues raised about it, then we could put a
fix into the 2.20 branch.

I'm not sure how this works in the new GDM rewrite. It may have
better autologin support, but it currently doesn't support
multi-display.

I'm setting up a 2-seat system in which gdm runs 2 servers. Is it
possible to have a different user autologin to each of these server
sessions? One is a regular computer, for my kids, and the other is a tv
running mythtv; it would be nice if the tv at least was always logged in
as myth, but the other was free for my kids to use.

these are my customizations to gdm.conf-custom:
[servers]

0=Standard0
1=Standard1

[server-Standard0]
name=Standard server #0
command=/usr/X11R6/bin/X -br -audit 0 -nolisten tcp -novtswitch
-sharevts -layout Layout0
flexible=true

[server-Standard1]
name=Standard server #1
command=/usr/X11R6/bin/X -br -audit 0 -nolisten tcp -novtswitch
-sharevts -layout Layout1
flexible=true

thanks for your help!  best,
matt
