Renju:
How do we set the autologin timeout to zero for a normal user using
gdmsetup. I tried by setting zero value for autologin, but it always
take 5 secs to login(with decrement counter starts from 5). Is it
possible to quick login without waiting even for 1 second?
I'm confused. Automatic and Timed Login have separate checkboxes
on the "Security" tab of gdmsetup. You can only enter a timer value
for "Timed Login" and not "Automatic Login". Above you seem to indicate
you are setting a timer for "Automatic Login" which should not be
possible.
When you use Automatic Login, it should log you in immediately without
bothering to display the login screen at all. Note that on some systems
you may need to configure PAM. For example, Solaris 10 needs some
special PAM work to support pam_allow.

Looking at the code, it seems gdmlogin and gdmgreeter do not allow
the timer delay to be less than 30 seconds, not 5. So I am not
sure how you are seeing a 5 second counter.
