I have a notebook and I often switch between desktop use at home and mobile use somewhere in a train/library/etc. At home I have all sounds activated, also the login sound. But when I am on tour, a screaming laptop becomes annoying. And the first chance to silence it, comes after gnome has loaded completely.
Thus it would be nice to have a button/menu entry, that allows me so silence the notebook before I log in.
