Re: [gdm-list] Adding sessions to gdm in FreeBSD

Note section 5.1 of the GDM manual:

I think the correct location of the kde.desktop file is /usr/share/xsessions or one of the other directories in your
SessionDesktopDir GDM configuration variable. By default, this is

#SessionDesktopDir=/etc/X11/sessions/:/etc/X11/dm/Sessions/:/usr/share/gdm/Built
InSessions/:/usr/share/xsessions/

So, I don't think the directory /usr/local/etc/gdm/Sessions is the right
directory unless your distro puts this directory in the above
SessionDesktopDir configuration setting.

I'd try moving it to one of the above directories. I think /usr/share/xsessions is the most standard location to put it.

This is on a newly installed FreeBSD 6.2 system, with gnome2 from ports and kde from packages. I am trying to add kde as a session to gdm, according to the freebsd-gnome faq I add a kde.desktop file to /usr/local/etc/gdm/Sessions make it executable and restart gdm, well I have done this, as root, and the kde entry still does not appear in gdm. Have I missed something silly, is there something else I need to do, beyond what I have written above the documentation is a bit vague.
Any definitive answers highly appreciated.
