Does the face browser really need to be optimized for that use case?
If there are too many users the face browser isn't of much use
anyways. KDM on SUSE for example displays up to seven users. If
there are more users in the system it displays the seven most
recently logged in ones instead.
No, I'm just trying to think of ways that the daemon could "set up"
a directory with the information for the greeters without needing
to pass the information (e.g. image data) over any protocol.
Sorry for sending the extra email, but I wanted to mention that I have
had *many* GDM users tell me that they like using the Face Browser with
many more users - I've reports of 100-200 users being used happily by
some users. Surprised me when I first heard people liked using the
Face Browser with so many users, but it seems to be common based on
the numerous people telling me that they use it this way.
