GDM Community:
GDM bug #337510 involves modifying GDM to use the new GOption command
line parsing interface instead of the old, unsupported crufty way that
GDM parses the command line. Refer here:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=337510
Note that this change will cause some GDM binaries to no longer accept
single dash options. Such options include:
gdm -nodaemon
gdmchooser -xdmaddress
gdmchooser -clientaddress
gdmchooser -connectiontype
I understand the gdm -nodaemon option is there to be similar
with XDM, which supports this option. Perhaps the gdmchooser single
dash options are for the same reason? Not sure.
Accepting this patch into GDM 2.15/2.16 will possibly cause users
who are using the above single-dash options to have to migrate to
use double-dash options.
Unless I hear that people think this is a horrible idea, I will
accept this patch and release note the above potential issues
since I think moving to the new supported GOption interface is
the right direction to go, in line with the GNOME community overall
direction. I don't think GDM needs to support the single-dash
options just to be similar with XDM.
Let me know what you think.
Brian
