I'm not completely sure, but I believe that you can
set such settings in the gtkrc file that GDM uses
(specified in the GtkRc gdm.conf resource) if you
are using gdmlogin.
If you are using gdmgreeter, the font sized can be
specified in the theme .xml file.
I'm using the happygnome theme. I edited all font
sizes in the .xls and this caused all fonts sizes
to change except for the enties in the Language,
Settings, and Actions menus. I welcome any other
suggestions.
Hmmm. I'm guessing you mean the fonts that are
displayed in the pop-up windows that display when
you click on the "Language", "Settings" and "Actions"
buttons?
Note that these are popups that are built with normal
GTK calls. There currently isn't any way in the
theme XML file to specify the font sizes used in
these pop-ups.
However, I believe you should be able to edit the
file specified by the GtkRc gdm.conf resource to
specify default sizes that are used for the widgets
used to build these. Since the popups are built with
normal GTK widgets, they should honor defaults set in
the GtkRc file.
It is probably only necessary to define the font size for
label Widgets. Note that by default the GtkRC value points
to the gtkrc file used by all GTK+ apps
(/usr/share/themes/Default/gtk-2.0/gtkrc).
It probably makes sense to copy this file somewhere
else for GDM, edit the copied file, and modify the GtkRC
value in gdm.conf to use the modified version rather
than changing the value for all GTK apps.
It would be cooler if you could specify the font size
used in pop-ups in the gdm.conf file, but this would
require enhancing the code to work this way.
Let me know if this helps.

I'm guessing the two machines may be set with
different Xserver screen resolutions, which may
be causing the difference. Perhaps using more
standard Xserver configuration settings
would fix the problem?
Both machines are set to 1024x768.

Can anyone tell me how to change the font size for
entries on the gdm menus for Language, Session,
and
Actions?
On one of my Debian Sarge boxes the font is very
small and on the other it is so large that some
menu item descriptions are truncated (GNOM instead
of GNOME).
I could not find anything in the docs so perhaps
the size of menu fonts is based on a system
setting?
TIA. I want your good work to look its best.
