gdm and gdmchooser

First of all I want to introduce myself:
My name is Juergen Dankoweit and I'm living near Munic/Germany.

Now to my problem:
Every time when the gdmchooser it produces an SIOCGIFFLAGS-error.
What does this mean exactly?

System: FreeBSD 4.7, Gnome 1.4.1b, gdm 2.2.5.5
