gdm starts X twice???

HI!

when gdm starts, seems to start x server 2 times. first it starts the
gray x screen, then the screen blinks and shows the gray background with
mouse again(in xinitrc i have an "xsetroot -solid black" entry), after
few seconds or if i moved mouse, on tty8 appears a text message saying
that the display:0 is already started, and asks if try to start xserver
on other display. when i say <yes> the situation repeats on next ttys,
with display:1, display:2 etc. finally after some tries it returns
message that it was unable to start x several times... blablabla and
says that display:x will be disabled, but after that xserver isn't
terminated. it doesn't work, when i say <no> and restart on the same
display. there are no logs in /var/log/gdm, xfree log does't report any
error, startx with gnome-session in xinitrc works perfectly. i tried
installing from deb, and compiling the newest ver, uninstaling and
uninstalling xdm, changing default dm, clearing .lock files in /tmp, and
some thing i don't remember:).
i just want to automatically log in!!! (xdm even don't want to start x,
and kdm ... eh)

debian testing/unstable, linux 2.4.21, xfree 4.3.0 with nvidia drivers
1.0-4496, gnome 2.2.2-2, finally gdm 2.4.1.3-2
