So this means that it is its own daemon, and it uses the entries in
hosts.allow and hosts.deny, but not inetd.conf? So the
output from '/usr/sbin/tcpd -a -v' which warns as shows below is
acceptable?
################################################################
[root burns drf5n]# /usr/sbin/tcpdchk -a -v
Using network configuration file: /etc/inetd.conf
>>> Rule /etc/hosts.allow line 7:
daemons: gdm
warning: /etc/hosts.allow, line 7: gdm: no such process name in
/etc/inetd.conf
clients: .virginia.edu
warning: /etc/hosts.allow, line 7: implicit "allow" at end of rule
access: granted
>>> Rule /etc/hosts.allow line 8:
daemons: gdm
clients: .sys.virginia.edu
warning: /etc/hosts.allow, line 8: implicit "allow" at end of rule
access: granted
[root burns drf5n]#
