Hey guys,
first of all, thanks for your efforts Lauri! Without you, gD would be dead now. Martin and I simply don't have the amount of time to work on it as we used to have. Quite sad...
Now let's get back to business :-)
2006/12/29, Lauri Kainulainen <lauri sokkelo net>:
hope you guys had a peaceful and relaxing Christmas. I know I did :)
Yep, hope you too :-)
So finally they got the mailing list sorted out. Or at least I hope so..
this is the first post so far. You both are marked as administrators btw.
Good to know, I've already checked it. When the new page is online we have to put that information online.
Anyhow, about the new website. It's currently quite functional. A few
wanted features are missing but I'd really want it to rest in it's
actual position before continuing on the development.
The site looks quite nice. Users will give input anyway on what's missing and on what's still broken.
We have been in
contact with Robert (the www-admin) and he promised me passwords to his
server. We discussed with him about having the actual website as a
working copy of the SVN so that development may continue smoothly on the
site and upgrading will be as simple as doing a "svn up".
Is that doable? Sounds ok, as long as SVN isn't broken. That's why I would like to have an unstable repo and a stable one. The stable one should be the actual website. The unstable should be tested on another server and if it works, it should be moved to stable. This should work fairly well.
The question is, if we want to use my SVN or gnome's SVN server. My server has been running for the last 16 weeks without any problems. But it's ok to move it to gnome's SVN as soon as we'll have an alpha release ready.
After the website I can finally get to work on DD again! I'm not sure if
Ashwin is able to help me anymore.. I'll have to ask him, but he might
be busy with his new work.
He icq'ed me a while ago, but I forgot about what he was saying.
I haven't been working on DD, only some bits and pieces are there. But, it's good enough to use it as a working base (since it's class based and thus, quite clean).
Just in case you didn't know, here's some info about the server and the
guy:

That sounds awesome :-)

Is there a way to also put the WIKI on the server? If not it's ok to leave it on my machine, although the WIKI is offline at the moment, due to a dist-upgrade (sarge -> etch).

Aha, gonna have a look at it.
Thanks for all the information.
Best wishes,
Christian
