Who owns the return values?

OK, my brain hurts. Can somebody confirm I have not lost my grasp on
what is going on here ...

I am calling gconf_client_get_list() and getting back a list of strings.
Is it true that I am then responsible for freeing the strings that are
part of the returned GSList? Or do those strings still belong to GConf
(which does not seem sensible, but I do not want to go around freeing
memory that is not mine)?
