Thanks for the advice; but strangely it doesn't work; the ./configure .. command gives me exactly the same answer ( db3 library found but db3/db.h not found) although configure.in is modified as you wrote. I was surprised and thought I had to restart the system but it changed nothing; by the way the version of GConf I have is 1.0.5.
There may be something else to check?
