This fixed it (well a reboot fixed it which restarted gconfd), but it
did not help having two versions of the schema file nomad.schema and
nomad.schemas confusing things :)
One other question, should I be adding gconf_client_notify_add
callbacks for all variables not just those that may be shared between
applications. I'm thinking about if gconftool --set is used to update a
variable while the program is running then you would need to use notify
to instant apply the settings.
