Hmm, no mention of xproto here. Implicit dep pulled in by libxft.pc?
Seems strangely familiar...

What does 'locate xproto.pc' return? In case your slocate database isn't
reasonably uptodate, check the xorg-x11-proto-devel RPM, if it contains
it.

Also, what does 'locate xproto.h' return?
