Peter,

If you are using 'startx', simply recreate a .xinitrc file that exec's
garnome-session.  

For example:


        #!/bin/sh
        
        PATH=/opt/garnome/2.16.0/bin:$PATH
        
        exec garnome-session


Then run 'startx'
