if you, like me, upgraded python only because deskbar seems to need it,
you need to rebuild all python-bindings (~garnome/bindings/py* and maybe
~garnome/bindings/gnome-python). if you don't, it will still fail saying
it can't find gnomeapplet, but in reality it fails because it can't find
gobject et al (which are in the wrong site-packages dir).
