I have just compiled Garnome 2.12 (stable) on FC4. All files are visible in nautilus and can be accessed.
However if froma launcher
properties->icon->browse is selected all dirs appear OK and can be navigated however files appear gray'd out or invisible. All permissions look sensible etc:
